Many so-called “business coaches” charge thousands of dollars for less experience than Bill brings to the table. So why offer these insights at no cost? Simple: Bill believes in giving back. His business career has provided invaluable lessons—working with employees, vendors, and government agencies—and he wants to help others navigate their own entrepreneurial journeys.
While RetireCoast remains a free resource, Bill and his team now offer professional services for those who want hands-on assistance in starting and managing their businesses. These services help sustain the platform and expand its reach.

Bill Anderson’s Business Journey
Bill’s career began in the U.S. Air Force, where he developed a strong understanding of government operations. Upon returning to civilian life, he became a retail store manager, learning everything about running a successful store—while also earning his private pilot’s license.
From there, he launched his first business: an automotive supply and remanufacturing company. This venture taught him the ins and outs of wholesale distribution and manufacturing, all while taking night classes to strengthen his expertise.
Corporate Success & Transition to Consulting
After selling his business, Bill joined a major oil company, managing sales and marketing for some of the country’s largest retailers. He quickly rose through the ranks to senior management, gaining deep insight into corporate operations, environmental policies, and regulatory compliance.
Recognizing an emerging opportunity, Bill left the corporate world to establish a consulting firm that helped large retail chains comply with environmental regulations. His expertise in recycling and sustainability attracted global oil and chemical companies as clients, as well as the U.S. Postal Service and Department of Defense.
Pioneering Environmental Solutions
When a major state sought public outreach solutions for automotive recycling, Bill leveraged his experience to create a new business. His company provided education programs for cities, counties, and state governments, expanding rapidly.
As demand grew, a client city posed a new challenge: Could Bill’s team physically collect used motor oil from households?
Never one to shy away from opportunity, Bill pivoted again—launching a hazardous waste collection company that expanded nationwide. Over the years, he negotiated complex recycling agreements, facility leases, and environmental compliance strategies, solidifying himself as an expert in the field.
After successfully growing the business, Bill sold a stake to a large corporation. When that company later declared bankruptcy, Bill restructured his strategy and found an even better buyer. After overseeing a smooth transition for employees and customers, he eventually retired—at least for a little while.

A New Chapter: Real Estate & Investment
Retirement didn’t last long. After moving to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Bill became a real estate agent, then a broker, eventually opening his own brokerage. He acquired and restored a historic building to house the business.
He also started investing in vacation rental properties, forming investment syndicates, and managing properties. This led to the creation of a vacation rental management company, which continues to thrive.
Not one to stop innovating, Bill launched multiple real estate and business blogs, including a platform dedicated to helping agents understand real estate commissions.
Now, through RetireCoast, Bill shares practical business insights for retirees looking to start their own ventures. His family, many of whom work in the technology sector, assist in growing these platforms.

Why Listen to Bill Anderson?
Bill’s experience isn’t theoretical—it’s real. He’s built, managed, and sold multiple businesses across diverse industries, from automotive and environmental consulting to real estate and vacation rentals.
He understands what it takes to start, scale, and exit a business successfully.
If you’re considering starting a business after retirement, Bill’s articles, podcasts, and services offer unmatched insights—without the sales pitch. Bill is the author of several series designed to target groups that need help. Bill is the author of the Gex-X 20 Years to Retirement Series.
